To approximate a screen resolution setting, measure the
width of the following screen image with your ruler:
The image was programmed to a size of 72 x 72 pixels,
a calculated size of 1" x 1", based on 72 pixels per
inch. So, the beginning calculation is:
Multiplier = ( 1 / Measured width)
Given your screen image measures:
a. less than 1", see reference Example #1 below;
b. more than 1", see reference Example #2 below.
Example #1:
a. Assume that your image actually measures .75". Then:
Multiplier = ( 1 / Measured width)
= ( 1 / .75 ) = 1.3333
b. Checking = (Measured width x Multiplier)
= ( .75 x 1.3333) = 1" Programmed width
Example #2:
a. Assume that your image actually measures 1.25". Then:
Multiplier = ( 1 / Measured width)
= ( 1 / 1.25 ) = .8
b. Checking = (Measured width x Multiplier)
= ( 1.25 x .8 ) = 1" Programmed width

In order for a viewer of this same screen resolution to
learn the approximate programmed width of another image:
Programmed width = (Measured width x Multiplier)
